Five for Friday {January 22}

We had an AMAZING four day weekend! We were off on Friday for our County Stockshow and Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! But....... I was not ready to go back to school! There was not enough coffee on Monday morning. But, it's Friday and we made it through the week!

I worked overtime this week on producing some new products for the month of February! You can check them out {here}. It's been a while since I was able to sit down and create and it felt so good when I was finished! I'm definitely going to start setting aside time just for creating new resources.

We've been studying arctic animals the past few weeks. This was one of our Fun Friday activities and I have to say that it is one of my favorites. I took a couple of Pinterest projects and combined them. We started by water coloring the background. While that was drying, we did a penguin direct drawing. Once the students colored the penguin, they cut it out and glued it on the background. Last step was to take a q-tip and add some "snow" to the picture. They turned out SO cute and the kids had so much fun making it!

I am such a fan of NO WORKSHEET WEDNESDAYS! This is how we practiced our compound words. I used a compound word match game. I would show the class one half of the word and we would write it in our journal with one color. The students would take turns guessing what the second word was and we would write the second half of the word in a different color. It was fun and needed VERY LITTLE prep!

Looking forward... I am so excited to be going to the Texas First Grade Teachers Conference on Monday and Tuesday. My favorite TPT authors are going to be there. The guest list includes Reagan Tunstall, Cara Carol and Jessica Travis (all Texas teachers)!! I'll be sure to let you know how amazing it is! Follow me on Instagram for daily updates about the conference!
